Loyalty discounts and pricing transparency

This overview helps functional stakeholders, solution consultants, and implementation partners understand what loyalty discounts add to the OrderCentral storefront experience. Use it to evaluate when loyalty redemption fits your buyer journey, what buyers can do in the standard storefront flow, and how redeemed loyalty value appears in pricing and totals.

What this feature does

OrderCentral supports loyalty points as a buyer-redeemable discount model in the standard storefront experience.

With this feature, organizations can make loyalty-based discounts available to eligible buyers, let those buyers redeem part or all of an available balance directly from the shopping cart, and carry the redeemed amount forward as a visible discount through checkout and order-facing totals. The same release theme also improves how discount percentages are shown in cart and product pricing so buyers see discount information that better matches the actual price outcome.

Why teams use loyalty discounts

Loyalty discounts help turn a reward balance into a clear storefront action instead of a back-office adjustment.

This is especially useful when you want buyers to:

  • redeem loyalty value during self-service ordering
  • choose how much of an available balance to apply to the current cart
  • understand exactly how loyalty redemption changes the order total
  • see discount percentages and savings presented more accurately across the storefront

How loyalty redemption works for buyers

When the standard shopping cart experience is in use and qualifying loyalty discounts are available, buyers can redeem loyalty value directly from the cart.

The storefront experience is straightforward:

  1. The buyer opens the shopping cart.
  2. The cart shows the loyalty discounts available for that buyer and cart.
  3. The buyer selects a loyalty discount to redeem.
  4. The storefront opens a redemption dialog so the buyer can enter or confirm the amount to apply.
  5. The redeemed amount is added to the cart and the totals update immediately.

The storefront also protects the redemption flow. Buyers cannot redeem more than their available loyalty balance, and they cannot apply more loyalty value than the current cart total supports.

Where buyers see loyalty discounts

Loyalty redemption remains visible beyond the initial cart action.

After buyers redeem points, they can see the effect in places such as:

  • the shopping cart totals area
  • checkout review and totals sections
  • confirmation and order-detail experiences that show discount lines

This makes the discount easier to understand because the redeemed amount stays visible as the buyer moves through the order journey.

More accurate pricing and discount presentation

This feature theme also improves pricing transparency in storefront discount displays.

Discount percentages in cart and product pricing now better reflect the actual discounted outcome, including low-value pricing scenarios where rounding previously made discounts look misleading or appear as 0%. For buyers, this creates a more trustworthy pricing experience because savings and totals align more closely with what is actually being charged.

Standard storefront behavior and custom implementations

The loyalty redemption experience described here belongs to the standard shopping cart experience.

Teams that use the standard cart can surface loyalty redemption as part of the normal buyer flow when qualifying loyalty discounts are available. Teams that use a custom cart experience should plan for equivalent loyalty retrieval, validation, and application behavior if they want buyers to have the same redemption experience.

When this feature is a good fit

Loyalty discounts are a strong fit when your storefront should let buyers actively use reward value during checkout preparation instead of applying discounts silently in the background.

Use this capability when it is important for buyers to:

  • see available loyalty value before placing the order
  • control how much loyalty value is redeemed against the current cart
  • understand how the redemption affects totals before checkout
  • review the loyalty discount later in confirmation and order-detail views

Summary

Loyalty discounts let buyers redeem reward value directly from the standard OrderCentral cart and keep that redeemed value visible through checkout and order totals. At the same time, pricing transparency improvements make discount percentages easier for buyers to understand, especially in cases where small-value discounts previously looked inaccurate.
